The Vision: Beyond the Dining Table
When we were tasked with the design-build of Ichigo Ichie, we knew the project demanded more than just a beautiful aesthetic. For a Michelin-starred culinary experience, the environment must act as a silent partner to the chef. Every sightline, every texture, and every technical element must be in perfect harmony.
The challenge? To bridge the gap between a high-concept, minimalist Japanese vision and the rigorous, uncompromising technical requirements of a high-performance commercial kitchen in Singapore.
The Strategy: Precision over Decoration
At Interea, we don’t just decorate; we engineer. For Ichigo Ichie, our approach was rooted in Material Artistry.
-
The Counter: The focal point of the space, a study in wood joinery. We sourced and installed materials that reflect the warmth of traditional Japanese Hinoki, ensuring the grains aligned to the millimeter.
-
The Technical Core: Behind the minimalism lies a complex web of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems. Navigating FSSD (Fire Safety) and SFA (Singapore Food Agency) compliance was a primary pillar of our build phase, ensuring the kitchen operated as a world-class engine.
The Design-Build Advantage
Why did the design-build model work so well for this project? Because in a space this precise, there is no room for a “hand-off” between a designer and a contractor.
By serving as the single point of accountability, we ensured that:
-
The Budget Stayed Grounded: No “surprise” costs during construction because the builders were in the room during the design phase.
-
The Timeline Was Respected: Our proprietary project management meant that technical compliance didn’t slow down the artistic execution.
-
The Quality Was Absolute: From the lighting temperature to the tactile feel of the dining surfaces, every detail was executed exactly as visualized.
The Result: A Legacy in the Making
Ichigo Ichie stands today as a testament to what happens when you prioritize Architectural Intelligence. It is a space that doesn’t just look “premium”, it feels intentional. It is a space where the craftsmanship of the environment matches the craftsmanship on the plate.
